Diana Douglas, Mother of Michael Douglas, Dies at 92

She was married to Kirk Douglas for eight years

Diana Douglas, the ex-wife of Kirk Douglas and mother of Michael Douglas, died Saturday at her home in Woodland Hills, Calif., her husband, Donald Webster, told The Hollywood Reporter. She was 92.

Born Diana Love Dill in Bermuda, Diana met Kirk Douglas when they were both students at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York. They were married from 1943 to 1951, when they divorced. Diana then married Broadway producer Bill Darrid, who died in a car crash in 1992.

An actress in her own right, Diana made her screen debut alongside Spencer Tracy and Katharine Hepburn in Keeper of the Flame in 1942. She later starred opposite Kirk Douglas in 1955's The Indian Fighter and opposite Michael in The Star Chamber (1983) and Planes, Trains and Automobiles (1987).

Her television credits included small roles on Days of Our Lives, The West Wing, The Cowboys, The Waltons and ER.

In 1999, she published the memoir In the Wings.

Most recently, she starred in It Runs in the Familyalongside Kirk Douglas, Michael Douglas and Michael's son Cameron Douglas.
