The Directors Guild of America announced its nominations for Outstanding Film Director in 2015 Tuesday.

The Revenant, fresh off three big wins (including Best Picture and Best Director) at Sunday's Golden Globes, continued to pick up steam heading into next month's Oscars with a nomination for director Alejandro G. Inarritu.

He's up against Tom McCarthy (Spotlight), Adam McKay (The Big Short), George Miller (Mad Max: Fury Road) and Ridley Scott (The Martian).

The DGA also announced a new category, recognizing first-time feature film directors specifically. The nominees are Fernando Coimbra (A Wolf at the Door), Joel Edgerton (The Gift), Alex Garland (Ex Machina), Marielle Heller (The Diary of a Teenage Girl) and Laszlo Nemes (Son of Saul).

Nominations for directing achievements in television, commercials and documentaries will be announced Wednesday.

The DGA Awards, hosted by Jane Lynch, will take place on Saturday, Feb. 6.
