Demi Lovato's Father Dies

Sad news for Demi Lovato and her family: The X Factor judge's father, Patrick Lovato, passed away over the weekend.

Lovato, 20, has not commented on the death, but her older sister Dallas tweeted Saturday: "Rest in peace daddy I love you," and her mother, Diana de la Garza, also thanked fans for the outpouring of support via Twitter.

Demi had been estranged from her father since 2007, though in recent years Patrick has made several attempts to reach out to his daughter through the press.

In 2011, Patrick Lovato told Radar Online that he had been battling cancer and asked Demi to call him. The same year, her album Unbroken featured the song "For the Love of a Daughter," which was about her tumultuous relationship with her father.
