The Disney Channel's newest series, Jessie, will debut on Sept. 30, TVGuide.com has learned exclusively.
The comedy starring Debby Ryan follows the 18-year-old as she leaves behind her Texas roots and moves to Manhattan, where she becomes a nanny to 13-year-old Emma, played by Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules' Peyton List, 10-year-old Indian adoptee Ravi (Karan Brar); 12-year-old American adoptee Luke (Cameron Boyce); and 7-year-old African adoptee Zuri (Luke and Skai Jackson). Charles Esten and Christina Moore recur as the high-flying parents. Christina (Moore) is a former supermodel turned business mogul and Morgan (Esten) a famous movie director.
While Jessie's new big-city life is full of excitement, she quickly learns just how much she relies on the support and advice of the kids in her care. Also helping her navigate her new adventure is Bertram (Kevin Chamberlin), the family's butler, and Tony (Chris Galya), the building's 20-year-old doorman.
Ryan is best-known for her role as Bailey Pickett on The Suite Life on Deck. She previously told TVGuide.com that it was sad to say goodbye to the series, but she was excited to finally play her real age on-screen.
"It hasn't been addressed that this is who we are once we're 18 and set loose upon the world and it's exciting for me to be paving new ground with Jessie," she said.
Jessie premieres Friday, Sept. 30 at 9/8c on Disney Channel.
