David Hasselfhoff Returning to The Young and the Restless

David Hasselhoff will return to The Young and the Restless, TVGuide.com has confirmed.The actor will reprise his role as Dr. William "Snapper" Foster Jr. for a short arc that is set to air in mid-June. David Hasselhoff will return to The Young and the Restless, TVGuide.com has confirmed.
The actor will reprise his role as Dr. William "Snapper" Foster Jr. for a short arc that is set to air in mid-June. Hasselhoff portrayed Snapper on the CBS soap opera from 1975-1982 before landing his star-making turn in Knight Rider.

"Playing Snapper in 850 shows during the six years I appeared molded my craft, my attitude and my work ethic," Hasselhoff said in a statement. "Being asked to come back to appear in several episodes gives me a chance to say thanks, as I have an amazing amount of respect and heartfelt emotion for Bill, his family and my time on Young and the Restless. I just hope I can remember all those lines."

Hasselhoff, 57, took over the role of Snapper from William Gray Espy. Snapper was written out of the show in 1982 when he accepted a medical fellowship in London. The Baywatch alum is one of many high-profile stars appearing on soap operas in recent years. Earlier this month, Julianne Moore returned to her roots with a cameo in As the World Turns. Though they didn't get their starts in soaps, James Franco appeared in a lengthy arc on General Hospital last fall, while Betty White played Stephanie Forrester's long-lost mother, Ann Douglas, on The Bold and the Beautiful from 2006-2009.Hasselhoff, whose return was first reported by Entertainment Weekly, starts filming in May.
