After several years out of the spotlight, comedian Dave Chappelle is slowly making his way back into the public eye. And one of his plans to reclaim his throne as the funniest man on the planet is to make a string of guest appearances on some of his favorite television shows.
"I want to do this thing where I guest star on as many television shows as I possibly can," Chappelle told GQ. "I love television. That fact that television ultimately made me famous was very gratifying for me."
And which shows would be like to appear on?
"I'd be a zombie in The Walking Dead, a corpse on CSI," he said. "I'd be the first black guy to f---Olivia Pope on Scandal." (Apparently Chappelle missed a significant portion of Season 2, when Olivia was dating Edison Davis, an African-American senator.)
What other television did Chappelle get into during his self-proclaimed "vacation" from show business?
"I started being the new television viewer, where I come in late to a series and just binge-watch it online," he said. "And I love it, because sometimes the anticipation, waiting from week to week, is too much. I binge-watched the first two seasons of The Walking Dead that way. I probably didn't get into Breaking Bad until, like, the third season. I watched The Wireretroactively, too."
Following a 10-show stint at Radio City Music Hall earlier this year, Chappelle still isn't sure what's next for him.
"I have all these weird fantasies," he said. "Going coast-to-coast on my motorcycle and having random barbecues all over America. No show, no nothing."
