"Yes yes yes! I'm back I'm back I'm back. You can thank @joelmchale," he tweeted on Saturday.
Though Sony would not confirm the news, the deal is expected to come in the next few days.
Harmon was initially fired as showrunner last spring, and turned down the position of consulting producer. He was replaced by David Guarascio and Moses Port, who aren't expected to return to the show in the fall.
Harmon, who previously spilled the news in a podcast, continued on Twitter, saying, "Here are my 'deal breakers coming back to Community: Rhonda Robinson on props. Denise Pizzini on design. Ruthie Aslan in post. Tell Sony." He then added, "Also I would very much like it if @joelmchale @yvettenbrown @GillianJacobs @alisonbrie @dannypudi and @DonaldGlover were somehow involved. And maybe @RashisTVUgly and possibly @kenjeong. I ran out of tweet space. But what have those guys done for us lately."
Community finished its fourth season with 3 million viewers and a 1.3 rating in the 18-to-49 demographic, tied with Season 3's Harmon-helmed finale. Though Community's ratings remained largely stable in Season 4, many criticized the season for losing its spark without Harmon.
Are you excited Harmon will be back?
