Matthew Gray Gubler is at it again. The Criminal Minds star directed Wednesday's episode — his second of the season and fifth overall — and if you've seen his past ones, you know what to expect.
"It's another very peculiar case in a weird little town where someone is killing people in a very bizarre way," Gubler, who plays Reid, told TVGuide.com earlier this season. "Those are my favorite — I love being able to create these eerie worlds for the unsubs and show how they operate. It's [writer] Sharon [Lee Watson's] crazy idea and I'm just trying to bring it to life."

In this case, the eerie world is Red Creek Lodge, a motel in South Dakota where men are being killed and maimed ritualistically. But the case won't be the only thing on Reid's mind — he's still mourning the death of his girlfriend Maeve (Beth Riesgraf)."He's not sleeping and he's still trying to figure out how to deal with it and move on," executive producer Erica Messer said.
