Cougar Town: Lisa Kudrow and Courteney Cox Reunite!

Lisa Kudrow and Courteney Cox may be appearing on the same sitcom again, but they won't be playing friends.

On Wednesday's Cougar Town, Kudrow plays Dr. Amy Evans, the best — and meanest — dermatologist in town. One, er, wrinkle: She's dating Bobby, who used to be married to Jules (Cox).

Executive producer Bill Lawrence says bringing Kudrow on was a no-brainer. "In a heartbeat," he says he responded when Cox asked if he'd like her famous Friend to appear. "I've lucked out that Courtney's got a lot of super-talented friends and so far they've all found the show super-funny." He says that he collaborated with Kudrow to create the role. "She had a bunch of pitches and jokes that are right in the script."

On the episode, which is charmingly titled "Rhino Skin," Jules and Ellie (Christa Miller) snag appointments with the imperious Dr. Evans, whose brash demeanor is tolerated by her patients because they know she's the best.

"I read the publicity they're putting out about Lisa Kudrow being on the show and some comments said, 'Oh, she's a dermatologist. They'll never talk about Botox, even though they should,' and I'm, like, that's a person that doesn't get Courtney," he says. "Of course that'll be in there; of course she'll make fun."

In fact, he says, almost nothing is off-limits when it comes to humiliating Jules. "[Cox is] a cool chick; she's a brassy gal and super self-deprecating," he says. "You can ask her, 'Hey, will you make fun of how black your hair is?' 'Sure.' 'Will you make fun of the fact that you think you have the hands of a 50-year-old woman?' 'Sure.' She doesn't care and that's what makes her appealing and seem accessible to people."

"Rhino Skin" airs Wednesday at 9:30/8:30c on ABC.
