Donald Glover Not Returning Full-Time to Community

Donald Glover, who plays Abed's BFF Troy Barnes on Community, will not be returning full-time for the comedy's upcoming fifth season, Vulture reports.

According to the site, Glover's reps have made a deal with Sony Pictures, which produces the series, for Glover to only appear in five of Season 5's 13 episodes.

The actor-comedian is hoping to focus more time on his music career in which he performs under the stage name Childish Gambino. News of Glover's reduced role comes one season after Chevy Chase abruptly left the show. The SNL vet appeared in all but two episodes of Season 4 after leaving in November. Season 5, however, will also mark the return of series creator Dan Harmon, who left his post as showrunner after Season 3.

Harmon, along with cast members Gillian Jacobs, Danny Pudi, Yvette Nicole Brown, Alison Brie, Jim Rash, Ken Jeong and executive producer Chris McKenna, will appear on the show's Comic-Con panel on Saturday, July 20.

A studio rep could not immediately be reached for comment.
