Lifetime has axed Jennifer Love Hewitt's rub-and-tug drama The Client List after two seasons, TVGuide.com has confirmed.

The series was based on the 2010 Lifetime TV movie of the same name, in which Hewitt played Samantha Horton, a former Texas beauty queen and a mother of three who becomes a prostitute to make ends meet after she and her husband lose their jobs. The film was based on the 2004 prostitution scandal in Odessa, Texas.

Fall popularity contest: Which new shows won you over?

When the series premiered in April 2012, Hewitt played a slightly different character, a woman named Riley Parks, who begins working at a local day spa after her husband abandons her and her children. The series co-starred Loretta Devine, Colin Egglesfield, Cybill Shepherd and Brian Hallisay, to whom Hewitt is now engaged.

The couple are expecting their first child in December.

A decision on renewing the series for a third season was reportedly delayed because of Hewitt's pregnancy as the producers and network tried to figure out how to handle her pregnancy on-screen. However, the show's ratings also dropped from an average of 2.51 million viewers for Season 1 down to 2.05 million viewers for Season 2.
