Daredevil fended off a strong debut by Old School to (barely) hold on to the No. 1 box office position for a second consecutive week. The Ben Affleck-Jennifer Garner superhero flick grossed $18.9 million, pushing its 10-day total to $70.3 million. Old School, starring Will Ferrell as a thirtysomething frat boy, opened at No. 2 with $17.5 million. How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days ($11.9 million), The Jungle Book 2 ($8.6 million) and Chicago ($8.5 million) rounded out the top five. Meanwhile, new dramas The Life of David Gale (No. 6 with $7.2 million), Gods and Generals (No.8 with $4.8 million) and Dark Blue (No. 9 with $3.75 million) had modest openings.
