Christian Slater is being sued by his estranged father for $20 million, but filed protesting legal papers last week claiming his father once tried threatened kill him and his mother.

The original suit is over a 2015 interview in which Slater said that his father, Thomas Knight Slater, suffers from manic-depressive schizophrenia. The paperwork filed last week supports that claim, with Slater declaring that his father was taken to Bellevue Hospital in New York City in 1972, "in a strait-jacket after threatening to kill both my mother and me," according to The Wrap.

The Mr. Robot star goes on to defend the statements he made in the interview. "I genuinely believed that Plaintiff was 'manic-depressive schizophrenic'," he says and that he knew of his father's mental illness through "multiple sources" who he had no reason to doubt.

The elder Slater, who is also an actor, claims that the actor's interview has caused him to be blacklisted from Hollywood.
