Chris Rock will host the 2016 Oscars, ABC announced Wednesday. This will be Rock's second time hosting the awards show, which he previously emceed in 2005.

"I'm so glad to be hosting the Oscars," the comedian said in a statement. "It's great to be back."

Previously, producers David Hill and Reginald Hudlin had said there will be "at least two hosts" for the ceremony, which will take place on Sunday, Feb. 28. They have not indicated whether additional hosts will be named. "Chris Rock is truly the MVP of the entertainment industry," Hill and Hudlin said in a statement. "Comedian, actor, writer, producer, director, documentarian - he's done it all. He's going to be a phenomenal Oscar host!"

Prior to the announcement, some had speculated that the gig may go to Ricky Gervais, Amy Schumer, or Golden Globes hosts Amy Poehler and Tina Fey.

Are you happy the Academy chose Rock to host?
