"It's the cast of Modern Family running into the cast of True Grit," he says. "Usually these people are fans of each other, so you get those moments you don't usually get at the Oscars, where everyone's a little more buttoned up."
On Sunday, Harrison will be on the SAG red carpet and he's been preparing to talk to anyone about anything.
"Not only do we need to know who's there, but the first question, what that leads you to," he says. "It's amazing how much goes into the preparation and you're only going to get 15 to 20 of these people. You just don't know who."
The one person Harrison is most looking forward to interviewing is best actress nominee Natalie Portman. He hopes the Black Swan star will be honest when he asks what it's really like to have an Oscar-worthy year and to attend red carpet events pregnant.
While Harrison is busy with The Bachelor and hosting the red carpet shows for TV Guide Network this awards season, he may have one more job to add to his list: replacing Regis Philbin. ABC won't comment on who is up for the job, but Harrison is reportedly on the shortlist.
"I love Regis. He is one of my role models, and I'm obviously honored to be considered on the shortlist for that job — it's one of those iconic positions. It'll be an amazing job for whoever fills those shoes," he says.
But Harrison isn't packing his bags for New York any time soon.
"It's like the rumor [about me being on] Dancing with the Stars every year," he says."Obviously I'm on ABC, I do a lot of their live shows, so it's a natural fit to be put in that mix. Whether it works out or not, the fact [I'm] considered worthy of such a job and an honor makes you feel good."
