Chris Brown Placed in Federal Custody

Chris Brown was placed in federal custody on Thursday, as the singer will be flown to Washington, D.C., for pre-trial hearings in his assault case later this month, Peoplereports.

Brown's trial stems from an altercation last October, during which he allegedly punched and broke the nose of a man trying to take his picture. 

Last month, Brown, 24, was ordered to stay in jail after being kicked out of his court-mandated rehab for violating internal rules. Brown's lawyer Mark Geragos attempted to block his transfer to federal custody, citing that it would prevent him from conferring with his client prior to the D.C. trial. 

Brown's probation stemming from his 2009 assault on his then-girlfriend Rihanna was also revoked in November.
