Chris Brown avoided jail time during his probation progress hearing in Los Angeles on Monday, Reuters reports.
Los Angeles Superior Court Judge James R. Brandlin said Brown should stay at a treatment facility for substance abuse and anger management because he was doing well and the program gave him an "adequate safety net."

Brown, 24, was in court because of his arrest on an assault charge in Washington D.C., last October when he allegedly punched and broke the nose of a man trying to take his picture. In November, he was sentenced to 90 days in the program.
Brown's probation stemming his 2009 assault on his then-girlfriend Rihanna was also revoked in November.
Brown has pleaded not guilty to misdemeanor assault in the Washington D.C. case and also rejected a plea deal that would have lessened the charge to a simple assault.
