Chelsea Clinton Leaving NBC News

Chelsea Clinton has decided to step down from her position at NBC News after three years, People reports. "Chelsea's storytelling inspired people across the country and showcased the real power we have as individuals to make a difference in our communities," Alex Wallace, a senior vice president of NBC News, said in a statement. "While she will be missed, we look forward to working with her in the future."

Clinton addressed her departure in a lengthy Facebook post: "Thank You. When I joined the NBC family in 2011, I had long respected NBC's commitment to telling the stories of 'ordinary people doing extraordinary things.' I loved watching the 'Making a Difference' stories about remarkable people and organizations making a profound difference in our country and our world. I am grateful NBC gave me the opportunity to continue this important legacy."

But after three years, Clinton, who announced she was expecting in April, decided to leave NBC "to continue focusing on my work at the Clinton Foundation and as Marc and I look forward to welcoming our first child."

It's unlikely Clinton will be missed much at NBC as her reputation at the network suffered when Politico reported she was earning an annual salary of $600,000 (approximately $26,724 for every minute she was on air), far above the pay grade of an unseasoned reporter.
