Charlize Theron has been quite the mad hatter as of recently, but it turns out there's a specific reason for her many new head accessories.
The Oscar winner, 36, shaved her head last week — check out pictures here — for her role as Furiosa in the upcoming film Mad Max: Fury Road, her rep confirmed to People. The action film starts shooting next month in Africa.

Theron joins the likes of Anne Hathaway, who chopped her hair off Les Miserables, and Natalie Portman, who shaved her head back in 2005 for V For Vendetta.
Theron, and her long blonde locks, can currently be seen in Snow White and the Huntsman and Prometheus.
