Charli XCX Made a Documentary About What It's Like to Be a Feminist Pop Star

The music industry is changing, and British pop star Charli XCX is a great example of that.

She's smart, sexy, talented -- in addition to her own songs, she's written megahits for Iggy Azalea and Icona Pop -- and entirely in control of her message. She's a capital-F Feminist, and she made a documentary called The F Word and Me about feminism in the music industry for the BBC.

"When you're looking at the music industry in isolation, especially pop music, women being really vocal about being in control of what they do and actually that being the case is kind of a new thing," she says. The 40-minute documentary explores what that statement means, through interviews with dozens of musicians, including Marina and the Diamonds, Ryn Weaver, and Jack Antonoff of fun.
