Casey Kasem

Casey Kasem has been missing from a California hospital since May 6, and his children have accused their stepmother of "keeping [Kasem] prisoner," according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Kasem, 82, suffers from Parkinson's disease and has not been seen since his children visited him at a Santa Monica hospital on May 6. On Monday, a Los Angeles Superior Court judge assigned a court investigator to the case to locate Kasem.

Kasem's children believe his wife, Jean, has something to do with their father's disappearance. "We had a wonderful visit with him Tuesday at Berkley East Convalescent Hospital -- he was thriving there -- and she yanked him out of there after hours," Kasem's daughter Julie told THR.

Last October, Jean Kasem said Casey Kasem was close to death. The following month, Kasem's children accused their stepmother of isolating their father and filed a request for conservatorship, which was rejected. Watch his children discussing the issue on CNN here.

At the time, Jean Kasem and her attorney issued a statement in response, which reads in part: "These children falsely claim that their stepmother is wicked and is keeping her husband prisoner... For reasons they know all too well, their presence at this stage would be toxic and extremely distressing for Casey, Jean and their daughter, Liberty, who have had enough of their cruelty." She and Kasem's children later reached a visitation agreement.

Kasem's ex-wife, Linda Myers Naylor, is also concerned for his safety. She tells THR: "This horrible woman, he's literally afraid of her."

Jean Kasem's attorney says Casey Kasem is out of the country, but his children think Jean has sent him to an Indian reservation in Washington state.

Jean and Casey Kasem have been married since 1980.
