After a tough couple of months, David Duchovny has something to celebrate: Californication will be back for more action.

Showtime announced Wednesday that its sophomore dramedy will return for a third season, with filming set to start anew this spring. Duchovny stars as Hank Moody, a (mostly) lovable novelist with a penchant for sex, drugs and rock 'n roll, plus a tumultuous relationship with his love Karen and their precocious teen daughter, Becca.

The actor made headlines this fall for undergoing treatment for sex addiction and rumors surrounding his recent separation from his wife, Téa Leoni.

Californication's Season 2 finale will air Dec. 14 on Showtime (10 pm/ET). Now that he's tackled two seasons of everything from women to writer's block and fame to fatherhood, what do you think is in store for Hank next season?
