Caitlyn Jenner Inspires Women to Showcase the Diverse Beauty within the Trans Community

Caitlyn Jenner shared an inspiring message for fans on Saturday.

The Olympian posted a photo of herself embracing a group of five women, all facing the view from Jenner's new Malibu home. "Learn from those who have walked the path before you #TransIsBeautiful," Jenner wrote.

#TransIsBeautiful is a popular hashtag created by Orange Is the New Black star Laverne Cox, who recently wrote about how the hashtag is not about cisnormative beauty standards, but about "all those things that make trans folks uniquely trans."

"For me it is necessary everyday to celebrate every aspect of myself especially those things about myself that don't align with other people's ideas about what is beautiful. #TransIsBeautiful is about, whether you're trans or not, celebrating all those things that make us uniquely ourselves," Cox wrote on her Tumblr, discussing how she hopes people focus on more than Jenner's physical appearance and on the courage it takes to come out and the obstacles still facing the trans community.

"I have always been aware that I can never represent all trans people. No one or two or three trans people can," wrote Cox.

To showcase the diversity within the trans community, the hashtag #MyVanityFairCover called for trans people to share their own versions of Jenner's iconic cover, reminding the world there are many kinds of beautiful.

"A lot of people have explained it better than me recently, but a large contingent of the trans community has engaged in a lot of dialogue the past few days, ever since Vanity Fair announced their Caitlyn Jenner's cover story, most of which revolves around the idea that the world only seems to embrace us if we're wealthy enough or lucky enough to adhere to white, cisnormative beauty standards. I've felt frustrated and useless and overwhelmed by opinions on transgender women and how we're 'supposed' to look if we want to be taken seriously," Crystal Frasier, who is credited with creating the hashtag with her roommate Jenn Dolari, wrote on Tumblr.
