The Brooklyn Nine-Nine/New Girl crossover starts Tuesday, Oct. 11 at 8/7c on Brooklyn Nine-Nine and continues on New Girl at 8:30/7:30c. The two show's paths cross during Jess Day (Zooey Deschanel) & co.'s trip to New York for what they think is a ceremony honoring Schmidt (Max Greenfield) at his high school on Long Island. When he finds out his school is just hitting him up for money, he freaks out, and Jess volunteers to drive into the city to get him soup from his favorite deli. But on her way back, Det. Jake Peralta (Andy Samberg) commandeers the car while pursuing a suspect. He crashes the car, and the suspect gets away.

So he takes her back to the 99th Precinct station, where Gina Linetti (Chelsea Peretti) gives her an incident report to fill out. As well as a liability release. And waiver of responsibility. And a smog check. And yada da.

When Jess complains, Gina snaps, "You think I like sitting here handing you form after form?"

"Kind of," Jess replies.

"You're right, I do," Gina admits. "God, it's like you're in here," she says, pointing at her head.

This scene is a weirdly accurate depiction of what it's like to interact with any New York City civil servant.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine and New Girl cross over starting at 8/7c on Tuesday, Oct. 11 on Fox.
