Osama "Sam" Lutfi, Britney Spears' former manager, has taken his rocky relationship with the pop star into the courtroom.
Lutfi filed a 45-page lawsuit against the pop star and her parents, Lynne and Jamie Spears, for libel and defamation, the L.A. Superior Court confirmed for TVGuide.com — three days after Britney obtained a restraining order against him and her former main squeeze, Adnan Ghalib.
The lawsuit reportedly details Lutfi's version of what transpired between him and the Spears family, and asserts that it was he who encouraged Britney to reconcile with her family, according to the Associated Press. The singer's father became co-conservator of her estate last year, following two forced hospitalizations.
Among his allegations, Lutfi claims that Britney's parents were instrumental in the end of his relationship with the pop star, People reports. "Jamie and Lynne launched a campaign of lies and intimidation designed to destroy Lutfi and drive him out of Britney's life," the legal papers read. Lutfi also asserts that Lynne Spears' recent book, Through the Storm, tarnished his reputation with "lies and fabrication" regarding the nature of his relationship with the star.
In addition to his libel claim, Lutfi is asking for fees that he says Britney owes him for his alleged past services.
A lawyer for Jamie Spears could not immediately be reached for comment. Lutfi's lawyer, meanwhile, said that there is "overwhelming evidence from independent witnesses" in a statement to People.
