In the battle of the Snow White movies, Kristen Stewart & Co. came out on top.

Two months after the Julia Roberts-fronted Mirror Mirror flopped, Snow White and the Huntsman took the top spot at the weekend box office with a better-than-expected $56 .2 million, Box Office Mojo reports. Last weekend's No. 1 film, Men in Black 3, came in second, grossing an estimated $29.3 million.

The Avengers followed with $20.2 million to take third place on the same week that the superhero film surpassed The Dark Knight as the third highest-grossing film of all time. The film now only follows Titanic and Avatar.

Battleship was a distant fourth, grabbing $4.8 million. Close behind was The Dictator, which completed the top 5 with $4.7 million.

At No. 6, The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel registered another $4.6 million. What to Expect When You're Expecting followed in seventh with $4.4 million.

Rounding out the top 10: Dark Shadows (No. 8, $3.8 million), Chernobyl Diaries (No. 9, $3 million) and For Greater Glory (No. 10, $1.8 million).
