Box Office: The Hobbit Continues to Dominate; 47 Ronin Bombs
The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug continued its domination of the box office this weekend, landing at No. 1 for the third straight week despite a slew of new releases that came out on Christmas Day. The Peter Jackson-helmed sequel took in $29.9 million, bringing its three-week total to $190 million, Box Office Mojo reports. The only other movie that was able to stay in first place for three straight weeks in 2013 is Gravity.

Coming in at a close second was Disney's juggernaut Frozen, with $28.8 million, while Anchorman 2 fell a spot to No. 3 with $20.2 million. At No. 4 was American Hustle with $19.6 million.
The Wolf of Wall Street opened in fifth place with $18.5 million, followed by Saving Mr. Bankswith $14 million. The Secret Life of Walter Mitty debuted at No. 7 with $13 million.
At No. 8, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire continued to hold strong, earning $10.2 million in its sixth week in theaters.
The Keanu Reeves flick 47 Ronin bombed in its debut, earning just $9.9 million for a ninth place finish. Closing out the Top 10 for the final week of 2013 was Tyler Perry's A Madea Christmas, which took in $7.4 million in its third week.
