Did Gone Girl Kill It at the Weekend Box Office?

Gone Girl won the weekend box office, just edging out the new horror movie Annabelle. Based on the best-selling book, Gone Girl stars Ben Affleck and Rosamund Pike and grossed $38 million, according to Box Office Mojo. Annabelle followed close behind with $37.2 million.

Gone Girl won the weekend box office, just edging out the new horror movie Annabelle.

Based on the best-selling book, Gone Girl stars Ben Affleck and Rosamund Pike and grossed $38 million, according to Box Office Mojo. Annabelle followed close behind with $37.2 million.

Taking the third spot was last week's winner The Equalizer. The Denzel Washington action flick brought in $19 million this week. At No. 4 was The Boxtrolls with $12.4 million.

The Maze Runner came in at No. 5 with $12 million, bringing its overall gross to $73.9 million. Left Behind, in the sixth spot, grossed $6.9 million in its opening weekend.

Rounding out the Top 10 were This Is Where I Leave You (No. 7, $4 million), Dolphin Tale 2 (No. 8, $3.5 million), Guardians of the Galaxy (No. 9, $3 million) and No Good Deed (No. 10, $2.5 million).
