The new indie thriller Don't Breathe exceeded all expectations at the box office this weekend, landing at No. 1 with $26.1 million, Box Office Mojo reports.

Suicide Squad, meanwhile, dropped to second place with $12.1 million in its fourth week in theaters.

The animated fantasy film Kubo and the Two Strings jumped a spot to No. 3 with $7.9 million, followed by Sausage Party, which fell to fourth place with $7.7 million.

The Jason Statham-Jessica Alba thriller Mechanic: Resurrection opened at No. 5 with $7.5 million, while the Pete's Dragon remake earned $7.3 million to edge out War Dogs, which took in $7.2 million.

Rounding out the Top 10 were Bad Moms ($5.7 million), Jason Bourne ($5.2 million) and Ben-Hur ($4.5 million).
