Moss will play Brody "Baby Face" Nelson, a 19-year-old famous, prolific hacker who finds himself under a court order to assist Special Agent Avery Ryan (Patricia Arquette) with a cyber case, or else he faces jail time. Brody essentially raised himself and joined "hacktivist" groups to get a sense of family. He gained notoriety by hacking into the stock exchange and wiring half a billion dollars to his bank account.
"Bow Wow is a gifted young actor who will have the responsibility, through his character, to set an example for young people who watch the show to 'do what's right' even when you know 'nothing but wrong,'" series creatorAnthony Zuiker said in a statement. "It will be a redemption story and a cautionary tale all wrapped into one."
CSI: Cyber, a spin-off of CSI, follows Avery Ryan as she heads the FBI's Cyber Crime Division, which investigates online crimes with consequences that play out in the real world. James Van Der Beek and Peter MacNicol co-star. The show is inspired by the work of real-life cyber psychologist Mary Aiken.
The artist formerly known as Lil' Bow Wow set a world record by becoming the youngest rapper to have a No. 1 hit, which he did in 2000 at age 13 with "Bounce with Me." He's since released six records and is prepping a new album, Underrated, set for release later this year.
CSI: Cyber will premiere midseason on CBS.
