A third victim in the Boston Marathon bombings has been identified as a Chinese Boston University graduate student, the school reported on Tuesday.
"I write to you with great sadness to inform you that one of the fatalities in yesterday's bombing near the finish line of the Boston Marathon has been identified as a Boston University graduate student," Boston University President Robert A. Brown said in a statement on Tuesday. "In addition, as I reported to you yesterday, another Boston University student was seriously injured in the blast and is being treated at Boston Medical Center."
In addition to the statement, China's consulate in New York revealed that the victim was a Chinese national, but at the family's request would not name her. The Boston Globe later reported that China's Shenyang Evening News confirmed the student was Lu Lingzi, a graduate student in mathematics and statistics at Boston University who was due to get her master's degree in 2014. More than 14,000 comments have been left on Lu's Weibo page, China's micro-blogging site.
