Will Paz de la Huerta return for the third season of Boardwalk Empire?

Root will play a shady character named Gaston Means who is a forger, swindler and murder suspect. Apparently all of these stellar credentials qualify him to be hired by the U.S. Department of Justice, working as a special investigator under Attorney General Harry Daugherty (Christopher McDonald).

Bobby Cannavale was previously announced to join the Prohibition-era drama as a series regular, playing the ruthless gangster Gyp Rosetti, who will oppose Nucky (Steve Buscemi).

The series' second season -- spoiler alert! Do not read further if you have not yet finished watching it — killed off several main characters, including Michael Pitt's Jimmy Darmody, Dabney Coleman's Commodore and Aleksa Palladino's Angela Darmody. The series also did not renew Paz de la Huerta's option, which means that it's likely her character Lucy won't be returning.
