Billy Joel and Elton John ended their two-year feud at the Songwriters Hall of Fame ceremony on Thursday, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

"I didn't see you tonight, Mr. Joel, but I want to see you," John said.  Joel later joked onstage, "Is Elton still here, by the way? Anyway, we're OK. Call me. It's the same phone number."

In 2011, John created a rift between his friend and former tourmate when he said Joel was lazy and not taking his alcoholism seriously. "At the end of the day, he's coasting," John told Rolling Stone. "I always say, 'Billy, can't you write another song?' It's either fear or laziness. It upsets me. Billy's a conundrum. We've had so many cancelled tours because of illnesses and various other things, alcoholism."

Joel responded in May, telling The New York Times Magazine, "That's his opinion. I don't [write new songs] because I don't wanna. He tends to shoot off his mouth — he shoots from the hip. I think his heart is in the right place. Maybe he's trying to motivate me, to get me mad or sometime. He's kind of like a mom."
