Bill Cosby Refuses to Address Rape Allegations During Performance in Florida

Bill Cosby's latest stand-up performance in Florida was largely uneventful despite local radio DJs offering money to audience members to heckle the comedian.

In an interview with Florida Today before Friday's show, Cosby said this type of behavior leads to a "frat house mentality" before explaining that he won't comment on the many allegations of rape made against him by several women, including former supermodel Janice Dickinson and the wife of actor Lou Ferrigno.

"The thing is, these people are prodding and pushing people and asking people to have a frat house mentality. Now suppose someone brings a weapon or decided to do more foolishness," Cosby told the paper. "There will be announcements made and the stations made some disclaimers, but what if people don't listen to what they said and they entice violence. That's not good for anyone."

He continued, "When you go to a civil rights march or something like that, at least there are meetings and some organization to it and people understand how to behave. There may be people coming to the show that don't know exactly what to do; there is no organization to it all.

"I know people are tired of me not saying anything, but a guy doesn't have to answer to innuendos. People should fact check. People shouldn't have to go through that and shouldn't answer to innuendos."

On Friday, two of Cosby's upcoming performances in Las Vegas and Tuscon, Ariz., were canceled, as another woman came forward to accuse him of attempted rape.

Kristina Ruehli, a New Hampshire grandmother, told Philadelphia magazine that she was a secretary at Artists Agency Corp. in 1965 when Cosby invited her to a party at his home.

"When I arrived at his house — it was probably around 10 p.m. — I was surprised that there was no one else there," said Ruehli. "He was very well liked at the agency, and so I expected others to be there."

Ruehli said Cosby offered her a drink that must have been laced with a drug, because she passed out. "At that age, two bourbon-and-7s would not have knocked me out cold, believe me. In those days, I could drink most men under the table.

"He must have drugged me," she continued. "There is just one point at which I was having a drink and feeling normal and the next I was somehow passed out completely. He must have slipped something into my drink. It's the only way to go lights-out like that."

Ruehli told the magazine she was foggy when she woke up in bed with a naked Cosby attempting to force her to perform oral sex on him, but she was immediately very sick. "I pushed myself away and ran to the bathroom and threw up. I was feeling really ill. And I never got sick like that from alcohol, at least not that small of an amount. Once I threw up — it was five in the morning by now, I think — I left the bathroom and he wasn't there. I don't know where he went. But I left right away."
