Big "Winner" Lindsay Lo a No-Show at Razzie Awards
Lindsay Lohan and Eddie Murphy took top honors at this weekend's 28th annual Golden Raspberry Awards, also affectionately known as the "Razzie" awards, held at Magicopolis in Santa Monica. Both Lohan and Murphy broke a Razzie record by scoring multiple gold spray-painted trophies; Lindsay actually tied with herself to win the Worst Actress category for her portrayal as twins Aubrey and Dakota in
I Know Who Killed Me.
Lohan's movie also took the awards for Worst Picture, Worst Screen Couple (Aubrey and Dakota), Worst Director, Worst Screenplay and Worst Excuse for a Horror Movie. It was Murphy's work in
Norbit that netted him three Razzies, including Worst Actor, Worst Supporting Actress (for Murphy's turn as Rasputia) and Worst Supporting Actor (for his portrayal of Mr. Wong).
In fact, the only other movie to snag a Razzie was
Daddy Day Camp, starring Cuba Gooding, Jr., in the Worst Prequel or Sequel category.
Presented by Razzie founder John Wilson and his cast of clever comedians, the show featured clips of the nominated films (
I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry and
Bratz were also nominated, but lost) as well as zingers read aloud from various film reviews of the past year. Of the much-panned Murphy vehicle, one critic wrote, "
Norbit is so bad it has redefined my concept of hell." Of
Daddy Day Camp, another reviewer stated, "It makes
Meatballs look like Ingmar Bergman." Ouch.
Needless to say, none of the winners or nominees showed to collect their awards, though good sport Halle Berry did show in 2005 to receive her Worst Actress Razzie for
Catwoman. -
