The casting is just the latest coup for Cumberbatch, who is currently enjoying Oscar buzz for his turn as famous mathematician Alan Turing in The Imitation Game. He won an Emmy in August for his portrayal of Sherlock Holmes in the acclaimed BBC series Sherlock and he will next appear in The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies.
