MTV has unveiled the first footage of the new season of Beavis and Butt-Head, which is set to return in October with its first new episodes since 1997. Watching this is like going home, if your home is a place full of doofy chuckling where people say "bunghole" regularly.
Really, though, it's weirdly comforting that B&B are as dumb as ever. That's no accident, as the show's creator/writer/director Mike Judge told a Comic-Con crowd that his impetus for the relaunch was because, "I felt like TV was getting too smart."
Apparently, Beavis and Butt-Head will comment on more than just music videos: In the video below, you can watch them riff on an episode of Jersey Shore. (Judge also says they'll be watching UFC fighting.) It should strike you how similar their quips are to that which you'd find on the Internet (including an easy, overused herpes joke). Were Beavis and Butt-head, in essence, the first recappers? Well, kind of! And in 2011, Beavis and Butt-Head reclaim the snark.
