Anna Paquin has been cast in Alias Grace, an upcoming miniseries co-produced by Netflix and the Canadian Broadcasting Company and based on a historical novel by Margaret Atwood, the streaming service announced Tuesday.

The True Blood alum will play Nancy Montgomery, a victim of a famous 19th century double murder. Alias Grace is a six-hour miniseries following Grace Marks (11.22.63's Sarah Gadon), a young Irish immigrant who was convicted of murdering her employer Thomas Kinnear and his lover Nancy Montgomery in northern Canada in 1843. The series is written and produced by Academy Award nominee Sarah Polley and directed by American Psycho's Mary Harron.
