Oscar winner Anjelica Huston has joined NBC's musical pilot Smash, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Based on an idea by Steven Spielberg, Smash focuses on a group of people who come together to put on a Broadway show about Marilyn Monroe. Huston will play Eileen, a smart and cynical theater producer.
Debra Messing to headline NBC's musical pilot
She joins Debra Messing, who was previously cast as lyricist Julia and Broadway star Christian Borle, who will play the show's gay musical composer. Katharine McPhee, Raza Jaffrey, Jack Davenport and Megan Hilty co-star.
The role marks Huston's first foray into regular series television. She won a Best Supporting Actress Oscar in 1986 for her performance in Prizzi's Honor and was nominated for an Emmy three years ago for her guest work on Medium.
