Less than two weeks after confirming his exit from Saturday Night Live, Andy Samberg has already landed another gig. The 33-year-old actor will star in the six-part comedy series Cuckoo on BBC Three, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Cuckoo stars Greg Davies and Helen Baxendale as the parents of a young woman (Tamla Kari) who, after travelling abroad, returns home married to a slacker and self-appointed spiritual ninja (Samberg).
Andy Samberg confirms Saturday Night Live departure
"The best of British meets the toast of Hollywood," executive producer Ash Atalla said in a statement. "We hope Cuckoo cements the special relationship between our two great countries. I imagine [Barack] Obama and [British Prime Minister David] Cameron will be watching closely."
The series will be filmed this summer and is slated to air later this year.
Samberg recently confirmed his exit from SNL after seven seasons as a regular cast member. Samberg, who popularized Digital Shorts like "Lazy Sunday," "D--- in a Box" and "I'm on a Boat," will next be seen alongside fellow SNL vet Adam Sandler in That's My Boy, out June 15.
