American Idol: Who Are the Top Three?

No sneaky twists this week — someone was definitely sent home from American IdolThursday night. Who was it? Keep reading to find out.

The evening got underway with the Top 4 giving a spirited performance of the Great Gatsbyversion of Beyonce's "Crazy In Love."

Ryan Seacrestthen tossed to Jimmy Iovinefor his critique, here's what the producer had to say: Angie Miller had a chance to establish herself as the frontrunner in the contest, but didn't deliver (though she didn't do a poor enough job to be sent home); Amber Holcomb's Pink cover wasn't great, but "My Funny Valentine" was "magnificent"; Candice Glover was "head and shoulders" above the rest of the singers on both her songs; and Kree Harrison "just hasn't lived up to her full potential" in the past two weeks.

(Side note: When they're all sitting together on the side of the stage listening to feedback from Iovine and the judges' panel, it really does seem like all these girls genuinely like each other, no? Which is nice to see.)

The show also included performances from will.i.am (another Gatsby-themed number), Idol alum David Cook and this week's mentor, Harry Connick, Jr.

And then, at long last, the results — from combined totals of this week's votes and last week's votes. Safe (in no particular order, according to Seacrest): Angie, Candice and Kree. Eliminated: Amber, who graciously congratulated Kree and gave her a gigantic hug after Seacrest announced the results. For her swan song, Amber gave a rendition of Whitney Houston's "I Believe in You and Me", but couldn't finish the song because she started crying at the end (as did Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey). Is it really fair for the show to make contestants sing at the end of the show once the save has expired? Anyway ...
