American Idol: Harry Connick Jr., Jennifer Lopez Join as Judges; Jackson Returns as Mentor

The more things change, the more they stay the same. At long last, Fox has confirmed the judges panel for American Idol's upcoming 13th season — which, as previously reported, will consist of Keith Urban, Jennifer Lopez and newcomer Harry Connick Jr.

At long last, Fox has confirmed the judges panel for American Idol's upcoming 13th season — which, as previously reported, will consist of Keith UrbanJennifer Lopez and newcomer Harry Connick Jr.

"I have always been a huge fan of American Idol and really enjoyed my time as a mentor on the show," Connick said in a statement. "And I am honored that they've asked me to be a judge this season. As an entertainer, I am truly excited to bring my perspective to American Idol, and to help emerging performers find their way."

In addition, Fox confirmed that Randy Jackson will be returning to the show as a mentor to the finalists, replacing Jimmy Iovine.

"Surprise, surprise! I am so happy to be back as part of this amazing show that started it all," Jackson said in a statement. "Season 1-3 is the place to be. The original talent show is back with a vengeance and ready to discover the best talent in America."

The show also unveiled a new logo for "American Idol XIII.Ryan Seacrest will return as host.
