American Horror Story's Season 6 premiere left viewers more confused than ever, but a new trailer is here to clear up some of our questions.

Denis O'Hare is confirmed to be the bearded man in the video who previously tracked down Piggy Man. Kathy Bates reveals that her character's job is to protect her colony from outsiders - a clear reference to the Lost Colony of Roanoke, which you can read more about here. And Shelby (Sarah Paulson) tells Matt (Cuba Gooding Jr.) that the torch-wielding people in the woods are devil-worshipers who practice human sacrifice (they appear to be spit-roasting their own Piggy Man at one point in the video - likely the poor chap who got scalped at the end of the premiere).

But more interestingly, the trailer also seems to give fans a first look at Lady Gaga, who was noticeably absent from the cast credits on Wednesday. The singer has said her character this season will be "quite grounded" and "very in the earth," leading to speculation that her character is literally connected to the earth (hence the ground breathing last night).

In the one-minute video, it appears as though Gaga is standing behind Bates, her face smudged with dirt, and an antlered skull sitting atop her head. Is she the goddess or demon that Bates' colony worships? Is she Mother Nature herself? Is she really just the Blair Witch?

We'll have to wait and find out.

American Horror Story airs Wednesday at 10/9c on FX.
