Amanda Peet Takes a Comedic Turn With Bent and Has Game of Thrones Envy

Let's face it, Amanda Peet is kind of awesome. Not only is she beautiful, she's starring in the likable new sitcom Bent (premiering tonight on NBC with back-to-back episodes at 9/8c and 9:30/8:30c), about a single mom whose home — and heart — is turned upside down by a charismatic contractor (David Walton). What's more, she's married to Game of Thrones exec producer David Benioff. Is it any wonder we're bent on talking to her?

TV Guide Magazine: It's been five years since Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip. What convinced you to do a comedy this time?
Peet: I wasn't convinced because it was a comedy. I thought the writing was good and hoped it was a good part for me.

TV Guide Magazine: Do you relate to your character, Alex?
Peet: Yeah! I am a stressed-out mom. [Laughs]

TV Guide Magazine: Had you known David Walton before the show?
Peet: No, so it was like a revelation. I [can't] believe he isn't a movie star. I worship him. He's so funny and gorgeous.

TV Guide Magazine: How have your own experiences with home repair been?
Peet: Throughout the years, I have had many things done, but I've been pretty lucky. My contractors have been great. I'm sure they tried to upsell me, but when you're prepared for that, it's easier. [Laughs]

TV Guide Magazine: What's next for you?
Peet: We'll go to Ireland for the summer for [the filming of] Game of Thrones. I'm a psychotic fan of that show...I spend a lot of time screaming at my husband, "I can't believe this person is going to have sex with this person!"

TV Guide Magazine: Have you hinted at a possible role?
Peet: Hinted? Are you kidding? I've been having sex with him for seven years...you'd think I'd get a role! I keep asking him, and he just looks at me and then changes the subject.

TV Guide Magazine: Maybe you should introduce dragons into your routine.
Peet: You know, maybe I will!
