Amanda Knox will be retried for the 2007 murder of her college roommate, an Italian court ruled Tuesday.
Knox and her then-boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito were found guilty of stabbing her British roommate Meredith Kercher to death in 2009, but the verdict was thrown out on appeal of the scientific evidence in 2011. According to Reuters, Italy's Court of Cassation has overturned the acquittal and ordered a new trial in Florence, though Knox will not have to appear in court.

Returning Spring Shows: Where we left off

"It was painful to receive the news," Knox said in a statement, calling the prosecutors'  case "completely unfounded and unfair.""The prosecution responsible for the many discrepancies in their work must be made to answer for them, for Raffaele's sake, my sake and most especially for the sake of Meredith's family. Our hearts go out to them," she continued. "No matter what happens, my family and I will face this continuing legal battle as we always have, confident in the truth and with our heads held high in the face of wrongful accusations and unreasonable adversity."After serving four years in prison, Knox returned to her Seattle-area home following the appeal in 2011. She will release her memoir, Waiting to Be Heard, next month.
