Brian and Allison Williams Brian and Allison Williams

Allison Williams is finally speaking out about the controversy surrounding her father, NBC Nightly Newsanchor Brian Williams.

"This has been a really hard time," the Girls star told Seth Meyers during a Q&A at New York City's 92Y on Wednesday, according to the New York Post. "One thing this experience has not done is shake my trust and belief in him as a man. He's a really good man, an honest man, a truthful man — he has so much integrity and so much respect for journalism. And, yes, he's a really good dad. I know you can trust him because, as any good daughter does, I've tested him on that."

NBC suspends Brian Williams for six months without pay

Last week, NBC suspended Williams for six months without pay after the anchor lied about his helicopter being shot at while he was in Iraq in 2003. Prior to his suspension, Williams had voluntarily stepped down from his post. He's being replaced by Lester Holt in the interim.

"I can't wait until he's back on TV and I know many of you guys feel that way," Allison Williams, 26, told fans in attendance on Wednesday. "Thank you for all your support."
