Adam Lambert to Become American Idol Judge?

Is Adam Lambert going from American Idol alum to American Idol judge?

According to E! News, the Season 8 runner-up is in talks to join the judges' table next season. "They have been talking about Adam for over a month," a source tells the site. "He personifies the show, and will be a popular choice right from the start. He knows what it's like to be on the receiving end of the judges' comments, he has a human touch, and they know they can't go wrong if they bring him on. He would be able to bring a unique perspective to the show. People love him."

Fox has no comment. An email to Lambert's rep was not immediately returned.

Is Jennifer Lopez leaving American Idol?

The report comes two months after Jennifer Lopez hinted that she might not return for a third year alongside Steven Tyler and Randy Jackson. "I don't know if I can go for a third year," Lopez told former Idol judge Ellen DeGeneres. "I miss doing other things. It really does lock you down, which was nice the first year."

Fox Entertainment President Kevin Reilly also said in May that Idol will undergo "tweaking" and get "some creative invigoration" before Season 12 premieres in January. In that regard, Jackson and Tyler might not be back either, according to E!

Executive producer Nigel Lythgoe told E! that he would love to return, but "as of this moment in time, we are still in negotiations as we are with everybody. Everything is up in the air." "There will be changes for sure, but nothing that stops it from what it is, which is an out-and-out talent show," he added. (Only Ryan Seacrest is a lock to return after signing a two-year deal in April.)

11 ways to fix American Idol

Since his Idol run, Lambert, 30, has sold more than 4.2 million albums worldwide and earned a Grammy nomination. His second album, Trespassing, debuted at No. 1 on Billboard in May. He's currently performing a string of shows in Europe with Queen.
