Call us crazy, but isn't Anne Heche's kooky personal life far more intriguing than her acting career? In the past few years, she's stirred up more drama than the twisted twins she once played on NBC's defunct sudser, Another World! First, she broke up with lesbian lover Ellen DeGeneres. Then, she wed and became pregnant by Ellen's cameraman, Coley Laffoon. Next, Heche topped it all off by claiming to have an alter ego called "Celestia" in her oh-so-appropriately titled tell-all, Call Me Crazy.
What does Vince Vaughn Heche's shower-stabbing co-star in Gus Van Sant's 1998 remake of Psycho think of her loopy doings? "I love Anne," he tells TV Guide Online. "I really love Anne. I feel a lot of affection for Anne and I respect her very much as an actor. It's not my place to put any judgement on what someone goes through at a place in their life.
"I haven't [read the book]," he adds. "That stuff doesn't interest me, really. Whatever people want to do... that's their thing. Whatever. But I'm not a guy who's gonna pick up the book."
Though some might argue Heche is asking dare we say clamoring? for public scrutiny of her private woes, that doesn't mean her pal has to like it. Muses Vaughn, who next co-stars with John Travolta
in Domestic Disturbance
(opening tomorrow): "I think a lot of times, to me, what's disconcerting is [that] when people go through something vulnerable, there seems to be a glee
in that. And I just have a whole other outlook. This is a decent person, someone who's been through a lot, who's tried really hard to accomplish something. So my prayers and my wishes are always for her to be happy and safe... in whatever it is she's looking for."
