Vantage Points to the Top of the Box Office
Vantage Point, a political thriller starring Matthew Fox, Dennis Quaid and seemingly an entire third of Hollywood, was No. 1 with a bullet at the weekend box office, opening with a $24 million haul. The previous chart-topper,
Jumper, dropped to second with $12.7 mil.
Rounding out the top five were
The Spiderwick Chronicles ($12.6 mil),
Step Up 2 the Streets ($9.8 mil) and
Fool's Gold ($6.3 mil).
Jack Black's
Be Kind Rewind, the only other new release to crack the top 10, tied
Juno for No. 7, with $4.1 million.
