Ugly Betty's Beauteous Evening

Sunday's ALMA Awards were far from
Ugly for actress
America Ferrera. Not only did her show
Ugly Betty take victory for best Latino-led ensemble cast, but Ferrera went home with the night's big win as Entertainer of the Year.
The 24-year-old actress earned the honor not only for her frumpy-but-fiesty role as Betty Suarez on the ABC series, but also for her offscreen work encouraging youth to become politically active.
Ferrera wasn't the only one to go home with a statue in hand after the
Eva Longoria-hosted ceremony. Other Latino performers, including
Two and a Half Men's
Charlie Sheen and
Scrubs'
Judy Reyes, went home with TV comedy awards, as well as
Lost's
Jorge Garcia and
Eli Stone's Julie Gonzalo for supporting roles. -
